Taking on Augustas amen corner
In this video I take on Amen Corner at Augusta National on TGC simulator software, how will I get on? Let's find out
As The Masters 2020 is edging closer - could Tiger Woods win back to back?
MASTER THE STINGER GOLF SHOT
A Stinger is a shot hit which features a low trajectory, usually from a tee with a long iron, fairway wood or hybrid club. The stinger is designed to increase the golfer's chances of getting the ball into the fairway and/or penetrate a strong headwind or crosswind such as on a links course. A simple concept which isn't so easy to produce but we will help you!
What to do:
- Set the ball back in your stance (roughly 1 or 2 golf balls) - this allows you to create a steeper angle of attack into the ball helping with the low trajectory.
- Keep your weight on the side closest to target throughout the swing.
- Wrists stay firm and complete a punch-like-follow through (hands should finish level or lower than shoulder height).
Practice these techniques on the range and on the course to have the ' stinger' in your arsenal to improve your score and impress some friends.
STRIKE YOUR IRONS PURE
Here is a quick & simple drill to help you eliminate 'ground before ball' contact with your irons.
Many golfers struggle with their strike, hitting the ground before the ball is very common, and it's something i often see when i'm giving lessons. To help to improve a golfers contact with the ball i often suggest the drill as shown in the video above.
All you need to do is:
- Set the club around 3 inches behind the ball and then hit some shots from this new address position.
The golfer hitting the ground before the ball is often doing so because of poor weight transfer in the downswing. This drill is a great way to improve your angle of attack as well as manage low point. It will engage you in to transferring your weight on the downswing, thus moving low point further forward and creating a much more appropriate angle of attack.
